I have one lamb coat that my Mom got me when I was 24, and it is still in use today. I'd like to know all you people that won't wear fur, do you wear leather, do you eat meat, did you get the vaccines that require chicken eggs for the formulas? I bet there are a lot of hypocrites out there... And for her latest Peta use of her body to tell people to adopt not buy their pets, shame on her. Peta is a sexist organization, among other things. The dogs in shelters for the most part HAD a home. They are not there due to overpopulation. If shelters and Humane Societies helped owners keep the pets in their homes, by providing training lessons, food if the family can no longer afford it, vet care if the family can no longer afford it, etc., there would be a lot less pets being dumped in shelters. A huge reason for pets being dumped is inconstinence; there are cheap meds for that! HSUS should part with some of those millions to actually help out. Purebreds are predictable, you know how they will look, what health risks to watch for, and the temperament to expect. Mixed breeds are huge unknowns, and can have ALL the genetic diseases and conditions from myriad breeds. They are not healthier. Vets treat more mixed breeds than purebreds. If predictability doesn't matter, please adopt. But if you want to retain the right to choose the dog that will become a part of your household for the rest of its life, buy from a responsible breeder. Responsible breeders will stay with you for advice and help for the life of that animal. The breeders I have bought from have become good life-long friends. And if for some reason I can't keep them, these breeders will take back my dogs. The lies and propaganda that these Animal Rights organizations spew are beyond belief. I doubt my comment will be allowed to stay on this blog, let's see if Joanna has the balls to allow a dissenting opinion...
